Jim,

I must confess that I become quite confused at times reading Harrison's arguments. Where does he allow for the Holy Spirit's leading and teaching. It seems to me that he completely disallows ANY influence of the Holy Spirit and relegates Him to oblivion.

After my salvation, the one thing I am most grateful for is the indwelling Holy Spirit and Comforter. This is what activates our Christian life and makes us a new creature.

You are certainly right BD. Always, in an authoritarian, legalistic sect the missing ingredient is the Holy Spirit. He has been supplanted by those who really don't trust His ministry. It was noted that in RAG's powerpoint presentation, called the "PDSSC Ministry", not once in his repertoire of 81 slides does he hint that the Holy Spirit functions in any other way than through their current leadership! Imagine: the Holy Spirit indwells every believer, but He can only influence them through the mediatorial action of human "leaders" or "authorities"! There are souls trapped in that cult whom I really love, but I hate with a passion the religious system that controls them!

How can I need a mediator when the Holy Spirit is IN ME, leading me into all truth?

Have the RAGS totally forgotten the basic tenets of the scripture - which were certainly taught by the brethren who have gone on before: MM Johnson, Wilbur Johnson, Ed Stevens, etc.?

Thank you, BD, for keeping this subject before us. We can't emphasize enough the place the Holy Spirit has in our lives. In my posts, dated June 5, 8:23 AM and June 23, 10:33 PM, I specifically called attention to Harrison's devilish teaching "that God chooses to direct the lives of those that are His through the agency of men in postions of authority." You asked at that time for "chapter and verse, please!" Harrison not only fails to recognize the ministry of the indwelling Holy Spirit, he essentially claims that the vast majority of Christians don't even have Godly leaders through whom the Holy Spirit can function! He says, "A saint that is in a sect is not under any authority there that God recognizes." The inference is that the only "spiritual authority" that God recognizes is vested in RAG Ministries, Inc.! Talk about TOXIC religion!

One thing more - Our closest and most intimate relationship with God is through the Holy Spirit and we are commanded both to "quench not the Spirit" and to "grieve not the Holy Spirit of God whereby we are sealed unto the day of redemption." (1 Thess.5:19 and Eph. 4:30)

It is frightening to realize how much they must have quenched and grieved the Holy Spirit in order to arrive at the place where they are now, where they disannul the presence of the Holy Spirit in their hearts and lives.
