This page will deal with the fact that there is nothing outside the realm of God and His creation, therefore the "secular" and the sacred cannot be separated.
It is the job of the Christian to view every bit of life and creation from a Biblical perspective. It is like using the Bible as a microscope, or magnifying glass, in looking at and evaluating everything in life. Call it integration; integrating God's truth with all of His creation. There is nothing in this life; in our lives, in which God is not interested. If this is true, how shall we then live? The implication is that we might be interested in the things in which God is interested.
This page will also deal with the concept that God -- in fellowship with Adam, gave this world to Adam with the intention that Adam have dominion over it. (Gen. 1:26-34, which was before Adam's fall.) Since then God's people have abrogated their responsibility. Today we see the unGodly having dominion over the World. The powers that be, inspired by The Great Deceiver, have been waging a campaign to keep the Godly ones out of dominant positions, including government and other high places, based upon the fuzzy concept of the separation of Church and State. The result is that, over time, most Christians have fallen for Satan's lie and are spiritually impotent today. The U.S. Constitution simply says that the government shall not establish a State Church and that, in regard to existing churches, the government shall not pass any laws to interfere with the free exercise of religion.
In the United States we, the people, are the government. Government is nothing like the conditions of government that existed in Biblical times. Slaves do not have to be obedient to masters because there are no slaves nor masters. Christians are not thrown to the lions anymore. The objective of the government and the educational system is to get everybody to go along with a democratic republic; a government of the people, by the people, and for the people. Yes, it is a humanistic system where most are not true believers in the Lord Jesus Christ.
Today in the United States, Civil Rights laws are strictly enforced, and according to Civil Rights laws, religion is a protected class. Christians have failed to recognize their Civil Rights, and have failed to exercise their lawful Civil Rights to turn the tide away from religious discrimination. A backlash should be taking place! The laws today are better than those of the Roman Empire, where the apostle Paul used his Roman citizenship to appeal to Caesar. Paul must envy us today. If he would have had today's Civil Rights laws, he would have gotten further with Caesar. Actually, a dictator like Caesar could not come to power under the laws we have today.
There were many Christians that came to the American colonies escaping religious persecution. Many were "separatists" from any sectarian attachments. The pilgrims were separatists and not Puritans. The Puritans were former Roman Catholics who rejected any authority claimed by the Pope in Rome, becoming the Church of England, and were loyal to the Church of England, but were otherwise indistinguishable from Catholicism in doctrine and practice.
Many of the founding fathers of this country were Christians. At worst, some were Deists, such as Masons; Benjamin Franklin, a member of the Hell-Fire Club. It used to be that a man couldn't get elected to office unless he was a church member. Despite sectarian ties, Christianity had a strong influence on the early years of this country. Look at society and government today, as it has turned it's back on God. Do Christians have the right, even the obligation, to have dominion according to Gen. 1:26-34? It's all turned upside down. There's something wrong with this picture. In the United States, where did it all go wrong? Where did we let go of our religious liberty? We have been conditioned by Satan's cunning craftiness within society: the schools, the media, the government, the courts, the Churches, and, first of all, the family. That's what happened! Now, should we just give up and accept our complacency and roll over and play dead, while the unGodly have free reign and dominion over us? There have been revivals before! Maybe we run and hide for shame.
The gospel and the walk of the believer is meant for the whole World and is applicable to every aspect of everyone's life and is not something to be set apart from material daily living. Even non-Christians are subject to God's realm, as ever. (No, I'm not proposing for man to usher-in the Kingdom of God. That is something that the Lord is going to do.)
It should be very unsettling for Christians to ponder the next question. The question is... how far should Christians go to have influence today, through God's directive to Adam to have dominion over the World? Aren't we God's people?
